Hello:
I wanted to inform the class of the death of my cousin Darrell Colquette. He passed away in Omaha, Nebraska, February 3, 2005. His funeral is on Monday in Omaha at Christ Community Church, where he and his wife Marlene and family were members. Darrell went to work for the FBI in Washington, D. C. after high school where he met his wife to be Marlene Miller from Nebraska. He retired from Firestone in Nebraska and later was an independent insurance broker. He was retired and 66 at the time of his death. He had a brain tumor (glioblastoma) diagnosed May of 2004. He leaves their son Jeffrey Colquette of Minneapolis and Tiffany Colquette of Omaha.
Darrell was a loyal family man and had many friends. He and I were childhood playmates. I think I often "tormented" him to ride me on the back of his bicycle on those famous Sunday after church visits. My mother dressed me in ruffles and a Shirley Temple hair-do, but I preferred climbing trees and having watergun fights with Darrell...he was 12, and I was 6. I am certain he hated to see me coming, but was a good cousin and patiently put up with the little "brat" who often came to visit!!
He never met a stranger and certainly had our family gift of gab! He is missed already. I just wanted to let you know about Darrell. He has been gone from Memphis since the late 60's so many of you may not remember him.
Condolences may be mailed to his widow Marlene Colquette at the home 5205 California Avenue, Omaha, NE.
